Assystem Energy and Infrastructure are recruiting for a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Nuclear business unit to support continued growth in this sector. This role would be reporting into the Delivery Manager and you will be responsible for the production, delivery and quality of all technical activities within the project scope. Role Details: Job title: Principal Mechanical Engineer Salary: Competitive + Benefits Location: Sunderland Hours: 37 hours (Flexible hours) Contract type: Permanent A full job description can be provided at interview. In order to be successful in this role, you will need the following: Degree qualified in technical/engineering discipline as a minimum Experienced in leading multi-disciplinary design teams Experience design engineering project substantiation in a highly regulated industry. Proven experience in creating a successful technical client relationship Self-starting and able to operate effectively in a stakeholder environment developing strong relationships with core team members and the wider business Proven capability to deliver work in area of expertise within schedule and within budget constraints Experience in designing complex bespoke high integrity machinery Knowledge and understanding of electro-mechanical design It would be a significant advantage if you have experience of the following: Experience in application of Systems Engineering methods and practices Experience in design of remote handling equipment and features Experience of nuclear crane design and substantiation Understanding of remote maintenance and decommissioning in a nuclear environment Knowledge of design for manufacture Knowledge of mechanical / remote handling operations Knowledge of designing equipment for nuclear contaminated environments Knowledge and understanding of hydraulics systems Understanding and practical experience of EU Directives, codes and standards including but not limited to… Machinery Directive, Pressure Equipment Directive, BS EN 13001, BS5950 Experience of fusion remote handling (JET and/or ITER, F4E). **Security clearance** Whilst we encourage applications from all nationalities, Assystem within the UK are subject to security and export control restrictions due to the nature of work to be undertaken.
