Job Title: Principal C&I Engineer Location: Berkshire Duration: Ongoing Assystem are an Award Winning International Engineering Design Consultancy who provide innovative and cutting edge solutions. We have a number of UK based offices and a significant, loyal client base. As our reputation for proficient delivery of complex projects grows even stronger, we have a need for a Principal C&I Engineer with a capability around Fire Detection and alarm systems (Use of design code BS 5839), Access controls, Public Address systems and Simple IT systems The Role: As our Principal Engineer you will have the: •             Ability to provide technical guidance and leadership to other C&I Engineers •             Ability to manage own time and to deliver within agreed time scales, target cost and quality standards •             Produce designs (including control panels, general arrangements, layout diagrams, schematic diagrams) documentation and calculations in support of project •             The ability to work from customer specifications to ensure that the design meets the clients’ requirements and is delivered on time and within budget •             Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite •             Team leadership and technical leadership of a team of EC&I Engineers, electrical engineers and designers •             Assist the Project Manager in smooth running of the project with an understanding and accountability for times, cost, quality and deliverables •             Knowledge and application of European and International Standards •             Knowledge and application of EC&I best practice •             Preparation of high level technical documents required on the project. (Basis of design, user requirement specifications, design requirement specs, design substantiation reports, functional specifications etc.) •             Knowledge and application of Electromagnetic compatibility •             Knowledge and application of Safety Instrumented System design and Substantiation •             Preparation of high level technical documents required on the project. (Basis of design, user requirement specifications, design requirement specs, design substantiation reports, functional specifications etc.) •             Approval of drawings, calculations, and specifications where appropriate. A full job specification is available. Your background: You’ll be a controls and Instrumentation Engineer within Nuclear Experience and SC Clearance (or no barriers to obtaining it). You’ll be experienced in the design of – Criticality Incident Detection and Alarm Systems (CIDAS) Fire Detection and alarm systems (Use of design code BS 5839) Access controls Public Address systems Simple IT systems You will have demonstrable experience of leading engineering design in the nuclear sector. Also you’ll have a depth of experience in the following – Control Panel Design and layout Instrument Control Panel Design and layout Relay logic design Instrument Calibration Motor Stater Design (VSD/Soft Start) Plant Instrument Hardware (passive / smart) Programmable Logic Controller (Hardware and software design) Fire Protection / Detection / Alarm systems Cable routing and containment Cause and Effect construct Be conversant with relevant standard / codes of practice Security clearance: Due to the nature of work to be undertaken applicants will be required to meet certain residency criteria in order to attain a minimum level of UK security clearance if not already security cleared to a minimum SC level.
