Senior Principal EC&I Engineer & Head of Discipline Permanent Role to be based at any Assystem UK location As a Senior Principal EC&I Engineer we would expect you to be familiar with four of the discipline areas and highly competent in at least two of them. In particular, we are looking for candidates who have a strong background in software development who will be able to help steer the business forward in this growth area to ensure that Assystem maintains and develops its reputation as a world-class service provider. At AEIL a Senior Principal EC&I Engineer will support tender documentation production, generate technical solutions, manage technical risks and assist in production of estimates and programmes. As a Senior Principal EC&I Engineer you will be involved in the full project lifecycle from capture of customer requirements, providing design input for assemblies, systems and installations to ensure the design is safe, functionally adequate for the user defined technical specification and in line with the appropriate design codes. During the design process the EC&I Engineer shall take into account the time & cost impact of the design decisions made, communicating any significant deviations to the project management team where commercial review is required. You will play a central technical role within project delivery and therefore will need to have good communication & technical management skills, to ensure that the interface with the project manager and other technical disciplines is efficient & effective. As a Senior Principal EC&I Engineer you must therefore be able to successfully lead presentations at design review meetings which may include client representatives to a high standard. As EC&I HoD you shall be required to set the required professional standard for the members of the EC&I discipline group. Key Skills: Essential: • Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills. • Experience of team and technical leadership of EC&I Engineers and Designers • In depth knowledge of Power / Power Systems Engineering or Software, Control and Instrumentation within a highly regulated industry (e.g. nuclear, energy, offshore, aerospace). • Experience of introducing/using a model-based design methodology. • Well versed in the application of appropriate engineering standards. • Ability to develop processes and procedures to drive continuous improvement and efficiency. • Knowledge and application of European and International Standards and EC&I best practice. Highly Desirable: • Awareness of best practice techniques in the industry and experience in implementing change and improvement programmes. • Experience of using tools for configuration management, issue management and project management • Ability to present technical training to a diverse audience. • Ability to manage and work within virtual teams. Qualifications and Experience: • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline or the ability to demonstrate the underpinning knowledge and understanding required for chartership. • Ideally a Chartered Engineer. • Considerable experience in working with a highly regulated industry. • Leadership in a technical environment. • Development and management of staff skills and experience. • Experience in carrying out formal reviews of technical programmes. Security clearance: Applicants will be required to attain a minimum level of SC security clearance, if not already security cleared to SC level.
