Graphite Inspection/Monitoring Permanent Barnwood, Gloucestershire Assystem is continuing to support key clients on a number of fronts and our capabilities continue to expand, we currently have a niche role supporting the Inspection of the UK current AGR Fleet. Overview The Graphite core is the most significant life-limiting factor in the AGR fleet, and the work that the Graphite Branch does is unique as no other country in the world operates graphite moderated CO2 cooled reactors.  Analysing the data from the core is a key component of supporting safe operation. Scope The Graphite Inspection Role will be based at Barnwood, Gloucestershire for a minimum of 3 days per week and will be involved in the work highlighted below. ·       Graphite core outage inspection support: o   Channel selections, NICIE2 Data interpretation and data processing, crack sentencing and report writing. o   Providing technical advice on the suitability of data. ·       Assisting in developing new analysis methods to get more value out of data. ·       Providing technical advice on the condition of the graphite cores to stakeholders. ·       Assistance with the management of bespoke software systems- loading data into these systems, ensuring they comply with EDF policy and writing documentation. ·       General documentation updates. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience ·       Degree in a maths, statistics, physics, chemistry, mechanical engineering discipline or similar. ·       Previous work within the nuclear industry with prior knowledge of irradiation-induced changes in graphite. ·       Ability to work flexibly to meet outage demands (some weekends). ·       A knowledge of data management tools, platforms or techniques. ·       Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and preferably programming knowledge. ·       Ability to manage large quantities of data efficiently and trend. Essential personal characteristics: ·       Ability to make decisions under pressure ·       Ability to work in a thorough and methodical manner to procedures ·       Self-motivated, with a proven track record of achieving results ·       Excellent communication and influencing skills ·       Ability to work as a team member How to apply We welcome discussions with candidates at varying seniority levels due to the niche nature of the opportunity.
