Job Title: Senior Process Safety Case Engineer Location: Westlakes Duration: Staff / Contractor Assystem are an Award-Winning International Engineering Design Consultancy who provide innovative and cutting edge solutions. We have a number of UK based offices and a significant, loyal client base. As our reputation for proficient delivery of complex projects grows even stronger, we have a need for a Senior / Principal Process Safety Case Engineer to join the team at our Westlakes office. Senior Process Safety Case Review Engineer The Role: The review will take account of the Surveillance and Maintenance activities and ensure the Safety Case is fit for the purpose to support these tasks. To provide safety case support and input to works undertaken on facilities across the site, with such deliverables as LTPRs, Safety Case Reviews and strategies. This role is to Lead and carry out reviews of the applicable safety cases. Key responsibilities and accountabilities: Proactively lead engagement with Plant personnel and review documentation to: Provide Safety Case experience and knowledge to the reviews undertaken as part of plants transition Undertake a review of the current target states Review and define Tasks and sequences Prepare for and lead reviews Manage the production of Safety Case Summary documentation e.g. Single Source Fault Schedule Drive Safety Case documentation through its approval processes. Undertake a review of the current operational safety case and compare activities and requirements Determine the impact of any required changes to the current Safety Case Assist in the development of an Improvement Plan with applicable review actions Assist in the development of any associated Overarching Strategy Paper Assists in the production of the review report, the Safety Case Review Report Provide support to the Safety Case Lead and undertake applicable tasks within the project portfolio Production of deliverables such as safety assessments/strategies where applicable. Your background: Personality: Self-driven, results-oriented with a positive outlook, and a clear focus on high quality and accuracy. A natural forward planner who critically assesses own performance. Mature, credible, and comfortable in dealing with range of people from Senior Managers to Plant Operators. Reliable, tolerant, and determined, an empathic communicator, able to see things from the other person's point of view. Able to get on with others and be a team-player.  A questioning and investigative attitude is desirable. Ability to work as an integral part of a team and from own initiative to achieve results. Possess the ability to justify/explain progress made, and actions implemented. Specific Job Skills: Detailed understanding of the principles of Safety Cases, Nuclear and General Engineering. Previous experience of site and the Long-Term Periodic Review process will be useful. Computer skills: MS Office, particularly Excel and Word. The ability to use and experience of the IT systems will be an advantage. Literacy: Must be a competent writer of technical based reports/presentations and safety assessments/reviews. Communication Skills: Must be a good communicator using face-to-face discussion, telephone and email. The ability to listen is essential. Preferential experience: Good understanding of the Safety Case Review processes and requirements Knowledge of the Safety Case Index Previous LTPR, Safety Case Advisor or Safety Case Manager experience A full job specification is available.
