Assystem is supporting EDF in the Design and Delivery of Hinkley Point C. We currently have an opening for a Senior Engineer with a focus on Modelling and Analysis of Steel Structures. The role will focus on producing detail drawings using TEKLA.
Essential Skills

· Knowledge of TEKLA software package (or Bocad)

We have an opportunity in our Bristol office for a Technical Lead focusing on Steel Structure in the Design of Hinkley Point C. The activities are focused on modification of design due to construction method, non-conformance, clarification of design documents, or modification due to building requirements. The main objective of the role is to manage design issues linked to construction constrains, taking into account the substantiation of the design at the end.
Key activities
On the defined scope, the role holder carries out the following activities
· To challenge technically the requests related to Steel Structures coming from the contractor during the construction, regarding clarification of drawings, modifications of methods/drawings, and non-conformances;
· To manage the resolution of the issues raised against the Steel Structures’ design packages, either to resolve them directly or to send them to the appropriate entity and follow their resolution;
· To manage the interfaces with the other design entities in charge of Steel Structures and interfacing disciplines (layout, piping, HVAC, electrical…);
· To follow the substantiation of the modifications and the impacts on the engineering sequence and production.
· To perform surveillance of execution design done by contractors on Steel Structures and manage design calculation and drawing activities;
· To manage the production/update of design packages, including calculations, drawing, technical notes;
· To integrate the different modifications into the Steel Structure design and manage open points and technical risks;
· To conduct technical reviews and ensure appropriate stakeholders management;

Person specification
The ideal candidate will be familiar with LTQR management, including an understanding of required records, within highly regulated industries such as; Oil & Gas, Electrical Generation and Defence, ideally with existing experience working in a nuclear or large project environment. A key member of the LTQR team, the position will be working closely with Quality Leads and the Assystem Quality Team, supply chain and other LTQR Stakeholders as required. As such, we are looking for candidates who are good communicators, with strong interpersonal skills, used to dealing with individuals at different levels within the client and supply chain.
Essential requirements:
· Review of documentation/certification records pack
· Ability to ensure pack meets the Contract/Technical specifications
· Any deviations have been captured (Concession/Technical Query/Change Note) and reflected in the LTQR for the component/assembly.
· Validation of approval of Drawings, Certification, Procedures, Quality Plans (QP's), Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), Route Cards by company and client.
· Liaison with suppliers to retrieve lost/incomplete documentation/certificates.
· Maintain accurate records of contract documentation as required by the company.
· Generating progress reports as required.
· Monitor close out of issues and follow up when necessary.
· Maintain discipline of filing systems for completed documents/certificates.
· Must have a good understanding of Quality Management Systems and previous Quality experience within an engineering/industrial background.
· Must have a good understanding of projects and be able to plan tasks around schedules, targets and milestones.
· Must have good technical knowledge and an understanding of material certification. This will ideally include materials knowledge, concrete, welding, I&C experience
