Master 2 research internship in Integrated Structural & Cell Biology in Grenoble

Description

The IBS is a world-class structural biology institute in Grenoble, where biology meets cutting-edge computation.

The Role

We're looking for an M2 student to help build a new computational approach for identifying and locating protein complexes inside cells — using 3D imaging data from cryo-electron tomography. You'll work on converting complex microscopy images into structured representations that can be analyzed with deep learning tools, using data from real microbial systems.

What You'll Do

  • Build and test a conversion pipeline for 3D cellular data
  • Work with both synthetic and real biological datasets
  • Contribute to foundational work that will feed into future deep learning developments

What You'll Gain

  • Practical skills in biological image analysis and scientific computing
  • Experience in a world-class research institute with state-of-the-art facilities
  • A strong springboard for a PhD in structural biology or computational biology.

We're Looking For

This project is a great fit for biologists curious about computation, bioinformaticians, or quantitative scientists (physics, math, engineering) with a genuine interest in biology. More specifically:

  • Curiosity about how cells work at the molecular level
  • Interest in developing computational tools for biology
  • Basic coding experience in Python or a similar language
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
