Description

  • To study blueprints, plans, and drawings to be able to machine to the required sizes, quantity and tolerances.
  • Assist in securing components together by using agreed and accepted fitting and turning techniques and practices in the workshop.
  • To take instructions from the Workshop Supervisor and assist in completing machining and turning jobs in the factory in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Ensuring tasks/duties are carried out and completed, in conjunction with the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Overhaul mechanical units/machinery/equipment in the workshop after being given instruction from the Workshop Supervisor.
  • Completing checklist of all machine shop machinery.
  • Maintain and service machinery i.e changing oils and coolants at the prescribed interval, of all machine shop machines.
  • Inform the Workshop Supervisor about consumables and tools that needs replenishment should the need arise.
  • General housekeeping of the machine shop.
  • Perform alternative workshop tasks as allocated by the Supervisor during periods of reduced fitting and turning workload. These may include, but are not limited to:
    • Grinding and surface preparation.
    • Bandsaw cutting.
    • Outfitting tasks and general fabrication assistance.
    • Support other departments as required, ensuring productivity is maintained across the workshop.
